Eastern Hydros Walk July 2026

A walk around Ilkley's eastern Hydros

A small group of members walked up Cowpasture Road to see the former Rockwood Hydro, under scaffolding for roof works. We viewed the site of the Stoney Lea Hydro, now townhouses and apartments. In the 1970s it lost its late licence through neighbour objections and closed soon afterwards.

We walked on the footpath at the edge of the moor and came down through the grounds of the Verbeia Grange, built as Troutbeck Hydro.

We finished at Craiglands with a behind the scenes view.

Finally, in the bar, we shared pictures and stories.
